This Privacy Policy explains what information Cheating or Not ("the App," "we," "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.
Account information. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the name and email address (or a private relay email, if you choose Apple's "Hide My Email") that provider gives us, and we create an account tied to a unique user ID.
Profile information. You choose a display name and, optionally, a gender and age range. This is used to personalize your experience and to power the anonymous demographic breakdowns (e.g. "62% of women said Cheating") shown throughout the App.
Age verification. The App is restricted to users 18 and older. During sign-up we ask you to enter your date of birth to confirm you meet this requirement. We do not store your date of birth — only a timestamp confirming that the check was completed.
Gameplay data. Every situation you vote on (Cheating or Not) is recorded and combined with your gender/age range into aggregate, anonymized statistics visible to all users. Individual votes are never displayed alongside your name to other users, except to players in the same Squad Mode game, who can see each other's answers for that game only.
User-submitted content. If you submit a situation via Spill the Tea 🍵, the text you write is sent to a third-party AI service (Anthropic's Claude) to be reviewed for our content guidelines and rewritten into the App's voice before publication. See "Third-Party Services" below.
Squad Mode data. Room codes, connected players, and in-game answers are stored temporarily for the duration of a game session and are automatically deleted afterward.
Notifications. If you opt in to daily reminders, they are scheduled entirely on your device using its local notification system. We do not use push notifications, and we do not receive any data related to your reminder preferences.
Reports. If you report ("flag") a situation, we record that a report occurred so we can review and, if necessary, remove the content. We do not disclose who submitted a report to other users.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not display third-party advertising in the App, and we do not use your data to build advertising profiles.
We rely on the following third-party services to operate the App. Each processes data on our behalf under their own privacy and security practices:
You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen. When you do, we anonymize the personal data tied to your account (name, gender, age range, and authentication identifiers are removed or unlinked). Situations you previously submitted and had published remain live in the game — since they have already become part of the shared game content used by other players — but are no longer associated with your account or identity in any way.
Step-by-step instructions, including how to request deletion by email without the app, are on our Delete Your Account page.
Cheating or Not is intended for users 18 years of age and older and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us at the email below and we will take appropriate action.
We use industry-standard security practices, including access-controlled databases and encrypted connections, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after a change means you accept the updated policy.
